The CUG Presidential Scholarship is a prestigious award established by China University of Geosciences (CUG) to support outstanding international students. It primarily supports programs in Geosciences, Resources, and Environmental Studies, while remaining open to other relevant disciplines. The scholarship is dedicated to attracting and empowering the next generation of global leaders and researchers. It aims to foster academic excellence and promote international cooperation in addressing the world’s most pressing geological and ecological challenges.
To be considered for CUG Presidential Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
1. Citizenship: Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens holding a valid foreign passport.
2.Conduct: Applicants must have no criminal record and be committed to observing the laws of the People’s Republic of China and the regulations of CUG.
3. Academic & Age Requirements:
Undergraduate Programs: Applicants must possess a high school diploma and be under the age of 25.
Master’s Programs: Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.
Ph.D. Programs: Applicants must possess a master’s degree and be under the age of 40.

1. Available Majors Please refer to the official document “CUG Catalogue of Academic Programs for International Students” for a full list of available undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs.
2. Priority Selection While the scholarship is open to various disciplines, priority will be given to applicants pursuing CUG’s world-class and high-ranking disciplines, including:
·Geosciences (Geology, Geophysics, etc.)
·Natural Resources (Mineral Exploration, Petroleum Engineering, etc.)
·Environmental Studies (Environmental Science and Engineering, Hydrology, etc.)
Other related Earth Science disciplines.
Applicants must upload the following documents in the CUG application system (documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized translations in Chinese or English):
1. Highest Diploma or Pre-graduation Certificate: Original or notarized copy.
2. Academic Transcripts: Complete transcripts for all semesters corresponding to the highest degree.
3. Language Proficiency Certificate: Valid HSK, IELTS, TOEFL scores, or MOI certificates as specified in the requirements.
4. Two Recommendation Letters: From two professors or associate professors, written in Chinese or English.
5. Foreigner Physical Examination Form: Must be completed within the last 6 months (expired forms will not be accepted).
6. Passport Personal Information Page: Copy of a valid ordinary foreign passport.
7. Financial Guarantee Documents: Proof of work or income certificate for international students’ economic guarantee.
8. Non-Criminal Record Report: Issued within the last 6 months.
9. Guardian’s Letter of Guarantee: Mandatory for applicants under the age of 18 at the time of application.
10. Other Supporting Materials: Such as award certificates, published papers, or other academic achievements.
Step 1: Online Application Log in to the CUG International Student Service System at https://cug.17gz.org/ to complete your profile and upload all required documents.
Step 2: Preliminary Review & Application Fee Applicants who pass the preliminary review will be notified via email to pay an Application Fee of 400 RMB to the designated university account.
Please note: The application fee is non-refundable, regardless of the final admission results.
Step 3: Final Review & Admission Candidates who pass the final academic review will receive their official Admission Notice and JW Form (Visa Application Form) via email.

January 1st – June 1st (Each Year) Late applications will not be processed. We recommend submitting your application early to allow sufficient time for document verification.
