On April 27, 2023, the inaugural meeting of the Pakistani Alumni Association of our university was held in the East Courtyard International Conference Room in a combination of online and offline formats. More than 200 participants attended, including Pakistani current students, graduate alumni, and representatives from other alumni branches.
The meeting was hosted by Zhang Mu, a Pakistani doctoral student majoring in Modern Mathematics and Control Theory who enrolled in 2021. He introduced the preparation work of the Pakistani Alumni Association and the members of the first Council. The first Council of the Pakistani Alumni Association consists of Wen Bin, a doctoral graduate in Environmental Engineering from the class of 2013, as the President; Xia Han, a doctoral graduate in Environmental Science from the class of 2017, as the Secretary-General; Wu Majun and Zhang Mu as Vice Presidents; Tai Yang and Gina as Deputy Secretary-Generals; and Pakistani alumni including Du Heman, Haroon, Han Bo, Nabeel, Alisha, and Xiaomi as Executive Vice Presidents.
Wen Bin, Associate Professor of Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences in Pakistan and President of the Pakistani Alumni Association; Gina, Chief Scientist of the Water and Sanitation Agency in Lahore, Pakistan and Deputy Secretary-General of the Pakistani Alumni Association; Xia Han, Associate Professor of Guilin University of Technology and Secretary-General of the Pakistani Alumni Association; Tai Yang, Associate Professor of Xiangtan University and Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the Pakistani Alumni Association; Xiaomi, Outstanding Employee of Zijin Mining Group and Executive Vice President of the Pakistani Alumni Association; and Haroon, a doctoral student majoring in Environmental Science and Engineering from the School of Environment who enrolled in 2019 and Executive Vice President of the Pakistani Alumni Association, delivered speeches in turn. They stated that they would take on the responsibility of building the CUG Pakistani alumni network, and contribute to promoting academic and cultural exchanges between China and Pakistan, as well as the friendship and social development of the two countries.
Professor Xu Deyi from the School of Economics and Management delivered a congratulatory speech on behalf of the supervisors. He has guided many outstanding Pakistani doctoral and master's students such as Bai Hang and Abbas. He said that the academic achievements of Pakistani alumni have had a profound impact on students in Pakistan and other countries, and have played an exemplary role.
