On April 24, a delegation led by Xia Liaoyuan, CPC Secretary of the School of International Chinese Language Education, Northeast Normal University (NENU), and Vice Dean Mao Shuaishuai, visited International Education College (IEC) for an exchange meeting. Prof. Xu Feng, CPC Secretary of IEC attended the meeting. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on topics including cooperation in cultivating international student preparatory students, and mechanisms and experience for the effective connection between preparatory education and undergraduate education.
At the meeting, Prof. Xu extended a warm welcome to Secretary Xia Liaoyuan and his entourage on behalf of the school, and introduced the exploration and practice of our university in the management of preparatory education for international students in China, the construction of undergraduate curriculum system, teaching quality assurance, and the connection mode between preparatory and undergraduate education.
Education for international students in China is an important part of China's educational opening-up. Promoting the organic connection between preparatory training and undergraduate education is a key link in improving the quality of international student sources and cultivating talents who know, befriend and love China.
In recent years, adhering to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, our university has actively served the national diplomatic agenda and the Belt and Road Initiative. CUG continuously improved the "three-in-one" preparatory education system of "language + culture + professional foundation", and explored and constructed a talent training mechanism featuring seamless connection between preparatory and undergraduate studies, classified cultivation and quality supervision, achieving phased results.
Secretary Xia introduced the practices and experience of his university in the teaching organization, daily management, national conditions education of preparatory and undergraduate students, as well as collaborative education with professional schools. The two sides held in-depth discussions on specific issues such as the construction of preparatory and undergraduate education standards, curriculum resource sharing, improvement of Chinese teaching quality, ideological guidance for international students, and adaptive connection of undergraduate programs.
Both sides agreed that strengthening regular exchanges and cooperation between universities is an important way to promote the quality and efficiency of education for international students in China.
Facing the new situation and requirements of international student education in China in the new era, the international education schools of the two universities should further give play to their respective advantages, establish closer cooperative relations in curriculum co-construction for international students, teacher exchange, teaching research and mutual learning of management experience, and jointly serve the national strategy of educational opening-up.
