中国地质大学（武汉）国际教育学院Notice on Improving Academic Atmosphere and Discipline of International Students at CUG

为进一步加大国际学生培养过程监察力度，完善学生培养环节的管理机制，引导学生端正学习态度，明确学习目的，激发学习积极性和主动性，营造“学在地大”、“严在地大”、“卓越引领”的氛围，树立优良学风，提高课堂教学效率，提升学生培养质量，现就进一步加强国际学生学风建设工作通知如下。

China University of Geosciences (CUG) is committed to further strengthening the supervision of international students' training process， improving the management mechanism of students' training，guiding students to form a positive attitude towards learning, clarifying the purpose of learning and improving their enthusiasm and initiative for study, thus creating a sound , strict and excellence-oriented environment for students. CUG is striving to shape a good academic atmosphere and discipline for students, which helps to improve the efficiency of classroom teaching, and eventually enhance students’ cultivation quality. The notice on improving academic atmosphere and discipline of international students is hereby as follows.

一、课堂纪律要求

Classroom Discipline Requirements

1.学生须提前进入教室，不准迟到、早退、无故旷课。因病、因事不能上课的，应事先按照学校请假规定履行相关手续，并及时告知任课教师。

International students must enter the classroom in advance. Being late for class, leaving class early, or being absent from classes for unreasonable reasons is not allowed to do. If they cannot attend classes due to illness and other reasonable things, they should perform relevant procedures of asking for leave in accordance with the requirements of CUG in advance, and inform course teachers ahead of time.

2.学生进入教室，应衣着整洁、得体。

International students should dress neatly and appropriately when they are in the classroom.

3.上课期间，除学习需要外，应关闭手机等通讯工具。

During class, mobile phones and other communication devices should be turned off unless necessary for learning.

4.严禁在上课期间睡觉、吃东西或做与学习无关的事情，未经允许不得随意进出课堂。

It is forbidden to sleep, eat, do anything unrelated to learning during class, or go out of the classroom randomly without teachers’ permission.

5.应尊重教师，服从教师课堂管理，积极参加课堂教学活动，认真完成教师布置的学习任务。

International students must respect teachers, obey teachers' classroom management, actively participate in classroom teaching activities, and complete the learning tasks given by teachers on time.

6.留管教师和兼职辅导员定期开展巡查，核查课堂考勤，并针对学生存在的不良课堂行为进行劝止和引导，落实校纪校规和上课纪律。

Staff from the International Students’ Teaching Affairs Office and tutors will regularly check class attendance, take actions when inappropriate classroom behavior happens, and implement university discipline and classroom discipline.

7.留管教师和兼职辅导员针对无故缺勤、迟到等学生做好记录和教育工作。对于屡教不改的学生，根据《中国地质大学学生纪律处分办法》中违反教育教学规定处分的相关规定，视情节严重程度给予警告直至开除学籍处分。

Staff from the International Students’ Teaching Affairs Office and tutors should make records and educate students who are absent or late for unreasonable reasons. Students who fail to regulate their behaviors after several rounds of tutorial talks, shall be given a warning or even be expelled from university for violating the provisions of education and teaching in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Disciplinary Measures for Students of CUG.

二、学业表现要求

Academic Performance Requirements

1.国际学生必须按照培养计划进度完成相应时段的学习要求。

International students must fulfill the study requirements for the corresponding period according to the study plan.

2.根据《中国地质大学国际学生学业预警管理办法》的有关规定，学校将在每学期考试课程成绩登录结束后，依据各学院培养方案中的有关要求，对学生已修学分、是否按期开题、是否按期进入学位论文撰写阶段等进行全面清查并记录，对全体学生各阶段的学习情况、与导师团队融入情况进行通报，对可能无法顺利完成学业的学生予以学业预警。

According to the relevant provisions of Regulations on Academic Warning of International Students from CUG, after scores of each semester's courses are submitted, CUG will have an all-round check on the actual credits obtained by students, and see if there is anyone who fails to do the dissertation proposal or to write the dissertation on time, according to the relevant requirements of the study plan of all faculties. Meanwhile, CUG will report students’ learning performance in every stage and their cooperation with supervisors. Academic warnings will be given to students who may not be able to complete their studies as planned.

3.对于各类奖学金生，其学业表现将作为年度奖学金评审的重要依据。国际学生的学业表现与其评优评先紧密结合，如每学年内收到2次以上学业预警，学校将视具体情况考虑取消其评优评先资格。

For all types of scholarship students, their academic performance will be considered as an important reference for annual scholarship review.  

International students’ academic atmosphere and discipline are closely related to the assessment of excellence and award. If students receive more than two academic warnings each academic year, CUG will consider canceling the qualification for the assessment of excellence and award depending on the specific situation.

三、学术活动要求

Academic Activity Requirements

1.国际学生硕士生和博士生必须参加《丝路讲坛》、《丝路博士讲坛》等与专业相关的必修学术讲座，学校严格考勤，考勤记录将作为年度奖学金评审的重要依据。

International master and Phd students must participate in the Silk Road Forum, Silk Road Doctor Forum for doctoral students and other required professional academic lectures. CUG will check the attendance of academic lectures. Students’ attendance record will be considered as an important reference for annual scholarship review.  

2.《国际学生硕士/博士研究生学业督学记录卡》针对学生培养质量进行全过程监控，学校将对记录卡阶段性督查不合格的学生予以学业预警。

The Record Card for Academic Supervision of International Master /Phd Students functions as a monitoring tool for the entire process of students’ cultivation quality, and CUG will issue academic warnings to those students who fail in the periodic inspection of the record card.
