Important Notice about Anti-fraud for All International Students

Incident Information:

Today, called by CUG security deparment, there was one CUG international students received an email, in the email it is said they can pay the student commission if the student can join their click farming group. This student thought they are introducing job to him, so he paid 15000 by Alipay and Wechat, and he realized he was cheated later.

Reminder from International Office:

Don’t believe any Job Recruitment or lottery prize winning information online, and always keep in mind any strangers who ask you transfer money to them arefraud.

CUG Cases:

Case 1: In 2019, one of our international students saw a message in one wechat group, the lady said she can help people got scholarship abroad. Our student added her and transferred 5000 RMB to her, and later he realized he was cheated because his wechat was deleted.

Case 2: In 2019, one of our international students answered a call after “11·11”. The people said he is a Taobal seller, because they lost the student’s goods, so the student should pay the same money of the goods and after the student received the goods they will return the money to him. Our student can not understand Chinese, asked one Chinese student for help at that time, when the Chinese student paid the money according to the link the “seller” sent, all the money over 2000 RMB in his bank was transffered.

Case 3: In 2014, one of our international students heard one of his countrymate in Guangzhou can buy cheap plane ticket, so she gave her money to the unknowun guy who woked in China for many years, and after that guy received her money he bought the ticket back to their country for our student, but did not buy the return ticket to our student.

Case 4: In 2014, one of our international students met another international student who said he was studying in XX university in front of our old international dormitory (Oriental Garden), and he showed his IPHONE to our student said he urgently need money, so he can sell his phone to our student in a cheap price. Our student checked that phone and decided to buy, he went to his room and took money, after he paid and when he arrived his room he realized he can not turn the cellphone on, then he opened the phone and found it was just a piece of iron in the phone.

Case 5: In 2013, one of our international students coveted little advantages, and bought back home ticket during winter holiday on a non-official website, and then was found cheated.
